About Windows 11 Field Guide: Who We Are and How We Work
Windows 11 Field Guide (windows11.io) publishes plain-English guides to installing, upgrading, fixing and setting up Windows 11.
Not affiliated with Microsoft
This is an independent publication. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Microsoft. Windows, Windows 11 and Microsoft are trademarks of the Microsoft group of companies, and we use the names only to describe the software our guides are about. We are not a support line: we never ask readers to call us, we do not offer remote-access sessions, and any pop-up or caller claiming to be “Windows support” from this site is a scam.
How we write and check guides
- Current versions. Microsoft’s Windows 11 release information page, as checked on 14 October 2026, lists 25H2 and 26H2 as the current versions for Home and Pro; 24H2 has reached end of updates for those editions. Our steps were written against the Settings app in 24H2 and 25H2 and should match 26H2 in most cases. Where Home and Pro differ, or a menu has moved, the guide says so.
- Primary sources. Each guide lists the Microsoft Learn or Microsoft Support pages, and where relevant the hardware maker’s pages, that its facts rely on. We check that those links still work when we update a guide.
- Safe fixes first. We start with built-in tools and reversible settings. We do not publish registry cleaners, “debloat” scripts, activators, cracked software or instructions for getting around Windows 11 hardware checks.
- No invented numbers. We do not quote prices, benchmark figures or statistics we cannot source.
In-depth guides and short checklists
The site has about 50 in-depth English guides and topic hubs, plus Spanish and French translations of the most-read ones. Older topics from the previous version of the site are kept as short checklists until we expand them; those pages say so at the bottom. The full list is on the site map.
Editorial policy and corrections
Guides are written and reviewed by the editorial team. When Windows changes or a reader reports a mistake, we update the guide and its “Updated” date. To report an error or a menu that no longer matches your screen, use the contact page and tell us your Windows version (run winver).
Money
The site has no paid placements and no affiliate links. Product pages are buyer checklists, not rankings.
