Intel Arc / UHD Drivers on Windows 11: A Quick Guide

Written by Windows 11 Field Guide Editorial Team · Updated

This page is a short, practical checklist for windows 11 intel arc drivers on Windows 11 (versions 24H2 and 25H2). It covers the steps that apply in most cases and points you to our in-depth guides. For the full picture, start with our Windows 11 graphics and display guide.

Quick checks

  • Press Windows key + Ctrl + Shift + B. This restarts the graphics driver and often clears a black or frozen screen.
  • Check cables and the input selected on the monitor.
  • Open Settings > System > Display and confirm the resolution marked (Recommended) and the scale.
  • Refresh rate is under Settings > System > Display > Advanced display.

Get the right driver

Windows Update installs a tested driver for most graphics chips, and newer drivers can appear under Settings > Windows Update > Advanced options > Optional updates. Gaming PCs often benefit from the latest driver from NVIDIA, AMD or Intel, and laptops with switchable graphics are best served by the laptop maker’s driver. If a new driver causes trouble, roll it back in Device Manager under Display adapters > Properties > Driver.

Per-app graphics and HDR

Settings > System > Display > Graphics lets you choose which GPU an app uses on PCs with two graphics processors. HDR options are under Settings > System > Display > HDR on displays that support it. Flicker that also appears in Task Manager is usually a driver problem; flicker that does not is usually an app problem.

This page is a short checklist and has not yet been expanded into a full guide. Steps follow current Windows 11 menus; if your screens differ, check your version with the winver command.
